So I get on Facebook early this morning and I come across a post from The Acacia Strain talking about a new single they released on iTunes. At first, like most TAS fans I'm sure, I was like "OMFG/HOLY SHIT/FUCK YEAH!! But, having been let down by different releases from different bands over the years, I decided to give the song a listen BEFORE immediately throwing down $.99 for it. on ITUNES of ALL places...(I know, it's only 99 cents, but I have to REALLY want something to buy it from iTunes) Here are my opinions on "Servant in the Place of Truth":
-
Heavy as SHIT (+)
-
Vincent breaks away from his usual consistent low vocal patterns (+)
-
Same slower-paced chugs and rhythms as most of Wormwood's material (-)
-
The slower rhythms still carry a smooth groove (+)
-
Vince is as hateful as always (+)
Listen for yourself if you haven't already done so:
{OVERALL SCORE} - on a scale of 0-10
7.5/10
While it's still TAS, and it's still HEAVY as balls, the slow, repetitive parts get boring rather quickly. I was hoping for a little more with this track, but it still carries a nice groove so I like it nonetheless.
